How CityPointz works

CityPointz turns real-world exploration into a game. Visit places, complete verified check-ins, earn rewards, and represent your home community on the leaderboards.

1. Explore

Open Nearby and allow location access. CityPointz looks for restaurants, stores, parks, attractions, and other real places around you.

2. Get within range

Every place has a radius based on its size and category. A small shop uses a tighter range than a mall, park, or large travel center.

3. Complete the visit timer

Remain close enough while the timer runs. This discourages drive-by check-ins and helps keep competition fair.

4. Earn XP and Pointz

XP determines leaderboard rank. Pointz are your in-app reward balance and may support future rewards, events, and promotions. Reward values may be updated as CityPointz evolves.

5. Represent home

Your selected home city, state/region, and country determine your local leaderboards. XP earned while traveling still represents your home community.

6. Compete everywhere

Compare your rank in your City, State/Region, Country, and Overall. Set your home location on Profile to unlock all regional boards.

Example: If your home is Castroville, Texas and you visit Atlanta, Georgia, your Atlanta check-ins still add XP to your Castroville, Texas, United States, and Overall rankings.

Fair check-ins

GPS accuracy, distance, timers, cooldowns, and per-place radius settings work together. Large sites may receive larger ranges, while small businesses remain tighter. These rules may be refined over time as CityPointz evolves.

Earning limits

Verified visits

The first 20 verified visits in a rolling 24-hour period earn Pointz and XP. Additional valid visits remain in your history but do not award more Pointz or XP until earlier rewarded visits leave the 24-hour window.

Rewarded ads

A rewarded ad is available once every 30 minutes, with a maximum of 10 rewards in a rolling 24-hour period. Rewarded ads and rewards are subject to the current CityPointz program limits and terms.
